Lounge Amenities
The upcoming Centurion Lounge in Tokyo will be designed with a unique Japanese aesthetic, incorporating local artwork and decor that reflect the cultural heritage of Japan.
The lounge will boast floor-to-ceiling windows, providing breathtaking views of the airfield and allowing for excellent planespotting opportunities.
Spanning approximately 7,400 square feet, the lounge will accommodate around 120 passengers.
While this makes it one of the smaller Centurion Lounges in the network, it promises an intimate and exclusive atmosphere.
Potential Issues
Given the popularity of Centurion Lounges, particularly in the United States, cardmembers may face similar challenges with overcrowding and waitlists during peak travel periods at this new location.
However, the addition of the Tokyo Haneda lounge signifies American Express’s commitment to enhancing its global lounge network, offering more options for travelers.
American Express’s Expansion
The Tokyo Haneda location will be American Express’s second Centurion Lounge in Asia, following the successful launch of the lounge in Hong Kong.
It will also be the third international lounge specifically designed for Amex’s premium cardmembers, joining the network alongside the London Heathrow Airport (LHR) lounge, which opened in 2021.

Other Lounges
Interestingly, Delta Air Lines recently opened a Sky Club at Haneda, reflecting the growing demand for premium lounge services at this airport.
American Express’s strong relationship with Delta likely influenced the decision to establish a presence at Haneda.
Other credit card issuers, such as Chase, have also expanded their lounge networks internationally.
Chase’s Sapphire Lounge by The Club will be opening in Hong Kong in 2022.
