Toulouse-based startup Beyond Aero recently secured $20 million to advance its hydrogen-electric jet project, setting a significant milestone in sustainable aviation. The Series A funding, co-led by Giant Ventures and Bpifrance’s Deeptech 2030 fund, drives the development of the world’s first hydrogen-powered electric business aircraft. Additional investors include Airbnb and Dropbox co-founders, signaling widespread support for Beyond Aero’s mission to revolutionize eco-friendly business travel.
Developing Advanced Hydrogen-Electric Power
With the investment, Beyond Aero is building a Hydrogen Electric Powertrain Lab to further refine its zero-emission technology. This lab focuses on achieving safe, efficient, high-performance hydrogen-electric propulsion systems. Beyond Aero’s recent success includes completing France’s first manned hydrogen-electric flight, which highlights their technological readiness.
By testing the powertrain in conditions that mimic actual flight, Beyond Aero ensures its hydrogen-electric system’s optimal performance and reliability.

Revolutionizing Business Aviation with Zero Emissions
The startup’s flagship jet, named “One,” promises zero-emission travel for up to eight passengers over 800 nautical miles—five times the range of today’s battery-electric aircraft. This advancement not only supports global climate targets but also cuts the traditionally high emissions of private flights. Running exclusively on fuel cells, the One jet emits only water, making it a leading eco-friendly option in business aviation.
