What is Boomless Cruise?
Boomless Cruise is a feature developed by Boom Supersonic for its Overture aircraft. This technology enables the plane to fly at speeds up to Mach 1.3 (around 1,000 mph) without producing an audible sonic boom. By flying at high altitudes and in favorable weather conditions, the shockwaves created by the aircraft refract upwards and dissipate before reaching the ground.

How Boomless Cruise Works
The technology behind Boomless Cruise lies in a phenomenon known as Mach cutoff. When an aircraft flies supersonically at high altitudes, its shockwaves refract upward instead of traveling to the ground. This happens when the aircraft is at high altitudes and in favorable atmospheric conditions.
