The expansion aims to enhance the airport’s capacity and marketability as part of its newly approved 20-year growth plan.

Highlights of the Trent Lott International Airport Expansion:
- Ramp Expansion: The project will add substantial apron space with frontage for aircraft hangar development, catering to both current and future aviation needs.
- Connector Taxiway: A new taxiway will provide seamless access to the existing parallel taxiway, enhancing operational efficiency.
- Attracting MRO Providers: The expansion aims to lure Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) providers, increasing the airport’s service offerings and economic impact.
Strategic Development
Airport Director Cinnamon Snyder emphasized the project’s collaborative effort.
The airport’s advisory committee, the county’s economic development foundation, board of supervisors, and Southern Sky Aviation contributed insights.
Southern Sky Aviation is the airport’s sole FBO. Construction will begin in early 2025 and is expected to finish by 2026.
Funding
The expansion will receive funding from various sources.
These include FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants, contributions from the airport, the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s Strategic Multi-modal Investments Fund, and the RESTORE Act.
George Freeland, executive director of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, expressed optimism about the project’s impact.
He stated, “Trent Lott International Airport has long been a tremendous asset, aligning well with our strong industrial and defense infrastructure. We look forward to seeing the return on these investments.”
